About Us

The Frida Cinema is proud to serve as Orange County's only non-profit movie theater. Nicknamed ''OC's Year-round Film Festival'' and ''Downtown Santa Ana's Cultural Anchor'' by OC Weekly, The Frida is an ''art house cinema'' that offers a diverse range of film and event programming, with a focus on classic, cult, foreign, international, independent, documentary, LGBTQ+, and anime films. Beyond film screenings, The Frida Cinema actively engages with its community by hosting art shows featuring local artists, discussion panels and Q&As, student film showcases, live events, film festivals, the monthly DTSA First Saturday ArtWalk community event, and outdoor screenings presented on its massive inflatable screens. Since opening its doors in 2014, The Frida has collaborated with over 200 partners, including dozens of schools and community organizations, further providing a platform for diverse voices and stories.
