Hey Santa Ana Chamber members! Got some exciting news to share that's sure to make waves in our local business scene.
Goodwill of Orange County and Santa Ana College are teaming up to offer free digital literacy classes right here in town. Starting August 28, 2024, these classes will be open to Goodwill OC staff and the public alike. Talk about a win-win!
So, what's on the menu? Four classes covering everything from "which end of the mouse to hold" to "wait, you can do that with Excel?" It's all about meeting people where they're at and helping them level up their tech game.
Elizabeth Toumajian, who'll be teaching these courses, puts it pretty well: "Being digitally literate isn't just nice to have anymore—it's a must-have." Couldn't agree more, Elizabeth!
This partnership couldn't have come at a better time. Dr. Osiel Madrigal from Santa Ana College reminds us that the pandemic really drove home how crucial these skills are. No kidding, right?
Now, here's where it gets really cool for our Goodwill OC friends. They're not just hosting the classes—they're actually adjusting work schedules and paying team members to attend. Talk about investing in your people!
For us in the Santa Ana business community, this is huge. We're always on the lookout for skilled talent, and this program is like a talent incubator right in our backyard.
But wait, there's more! Word on the street is they're planning to add classes on workplace readiness and other topics down the line. Keep your eyes peeled for that.
So, whether you're looking to brush up on your own skills, or you know someone who could use a digital boost, spread the word! Classes are filling up for the fall semester, and you can get all the details at sac.edu/diglit.
Let's raise a (virtual) toast to Goodwill OC and Santa Ana College for making this happen. Here's to a more tech-savvy Santa Ana!
